Title: The Good Daughter
Author: Karin Slaughter
Rating: 3.1/5
Comments: Don’t waste your time. It’s too long for no reason. None of the storylines are that intriguing in my opinion and there is a lot going on. There is the past that ultimately led to two sisters, Charlie and Sam, being estranged. There is the school shooting. There is the mysterious former Marine teacher Mason. There is Charlie and Ben working on their marriage. There is Sam working on her relationship with her father Rusty. There’s just a lot and I really was not interested in any of it.

Title: Forever, Interrupted
Author: Taylor Jenkins Reid
Rating: 4/5
Comments:
It’s a beautiful story about love and grief and how impactful an experience can be even if you only had it for a short time. It’s not the most action-packed story I have ever read but honestly, I enjoyed the slower pace. It sounds like a story you would hear about a friend of a friend. It feels so real. I felt everything Elsie was feeling. I fell in love with Ben just like Elsie did. What is there not to love about him? Everyone deserves a Ben and I hope I find mine one day.

Title: Pretty Broken Dolls (Detective Katie Scott, #6)
Author: Jennifer Chase

Title: All Good People Here *RRN
Author: Ashley Flowers
Rating: 4.4/5
Comments: As annoying as I find Ashley Flowers, this book is really good! It has some JonBenet vibes which was intriguing. I love a good “so and so returns to their hometown” story, especially when that so and so is a journalist trying to compare two very similar murders. I had my suspicions about certain characters but I was wrong so that’s always appreciated. I think Flowers is a better author than podcaster and I would definitely read more from her if she sticks to writing.

Title: The Identicals
Author: Elin Hilderbrand
Rating: 4/5
Comments: Light and fun as Hilderbrand usually is! Identical twin sisters Harper and Tabitha were split between their parents (Parent Trap-style) and living two completely different lives kept them from being close. The story involves reveal secrets, small town gossip, and family dynamics. The little bit of teenage angst in there made it pretty enjoyable.

Title: First Lie Wins
Author: Ashley Elston
Rating: 4/5
Comments: I enjoyed this one even though Girl With No Job gives it a lot of hate! I enjoyed the alternate identities and storylines. I enjoyed trying to figure out who Mr. Smith is (very Charlie’s Angels). I enjoyed the ending immensely. I enjoyed how intelligent Evie is and how she is always one step ahead of everyone. I wonder if jobs like the kind described in the book actually exist because that would be insane! I really enjoyed this and I hope to read more by Elston.

Title: Just the Nicest Couple
Author: Mary Kubica
Rating: 3/5
Comments: Ehhhhhhhh. First of all the title makes no sense which always pisses me off. Like who is just the nicest couple? Because I didn’t read about one. It’s about two friends who teach at the same school and one of their husbands goes missing. The ending did not live up to the hype throughout the story. Also the narrating characters are just not that interesting. Despite one husband going missing, I did not find myself caring like I normally do.

Title: All the Dangerous Things
Author: Stacy Willingham
Rating: 4/5
Comments:
I really enjoyed this one. It’s about a mother trying to find her kidnapped son and an estranged husband who doesn’t seem to care at all. The mother, Isabella, sometimes blacks out for periods of time making her feel guilty and question whether she’s done some horrible things. There are a few plot twists that I really enjoyed. I will definitely be reading Willingham again.

Title: Silent Little Angels (Detective Katie Scott, #7)
Author: Jennifer Chase

Title: The Family Upstairs (The Family Upstairs, #1)
Author: Lisa Jewell
Rating: 3.5/5
Comments: Basically a book about a bunch of crazy people doing crazy things. Narcissistic men. Insecure women. Lots of cult-like behavior which is always fun (and by fun I mean interesting. Cults aren’t fun). This one was hard for me to follow for a bit because there are so many characters but eventually when all gets revealed, the dots connect. This isn’t Jewell’s best.

Title: The Family Remains (The Family Upstairs, #2)
Author: Lisa Jewell
Rating: 3.8/5
Comments: This second book is way more interesting than the first book. You get more perspectives that fill in some holes of the first book. I just kept thinking “Man, this guy is nuts. And his sister might be too.” about Henry. What an odd fellow. I enjoyed this book way more than the first, making the first worth reading just to read this one.

Title: The Things We Leave Unfinished*
Author: Rebecca Yarros
Rating: 4.2/5
Comments:
The plot centers around Georgia, whose great grandmother was a famous author, and she hires a man to finish her final novel. Of course the story is close to her heart and she wants to honor her family’s story which makes trusting hard. The family story is even more interesting because Georgia’s mother is quite literally THE WORST. I believe Georgia’s maternal grandfather is the son of her great grandmother yet we do not get that perspective at all. The book ignores a whole generation which is odd. But I love the love in this book. I love the present love, I love the past love. It’s a heartbreaker for sure but so well-written. I was almost confused at the end wondering which part was the book and which part was reality but there is one part that ties everything in a little bow. A heartbreaking, necessary little bow. The big reveal totally shocked me. I think this is a cute one worth reading.
