The last ten movies I watched (pt. 3)

Title: Creed II (2018)

Format: In theaters

Personal rating: 9/10

Comments: So good. So so so so good. I’m a sucker for “full circle” moments and this has so many. The entire movie comes full circle. The entire Rocky series comes full circle. It is incredible. Michael B. Jordan and Tessa Thompson are incredible. The mirroring of Rocky IV is perfect. I’m giving it a 9/10 only for the slight predictability and because the trailer includes the song “DNA” by Kendrick Lamar but they don’t play it in the film which is disappointing. The story is a perfect ending to the Rocky legacy so I’m interested to see if this is just the beginning of the Creed legacy. I almost wouldn’t like to see a Creed III. I don’t think it’s necessary. But would I still watch it? Absolutely.

Title: Love Actually (2003)

Format: Netflix

Personal rating: 6/10

Comments: Eh. I don’t really see what the hype is about. It’s like New Year’s Eve and Valentine’s Day before New Year’s Eve and Valentine’s Day, where all the characters have their own storylines when suddenly their worlds collide. Except these storylines aren’t very interesting. I would’ve preferred a movie with just Liam Neeson’s character and his stepson. However, the ending isn’t that bad and some of it made me happy.

Title: Gone Baby Gone (2007)

Format: Netflix

Personal rating: 7/10

Comments: I am so disappointed with the ending. I love a good investigative story and I was surprised by the plot twist. But the ending? Terrible.

Title: The Christmas Contract (2018)

Format: TV recording

Personal rating: 7/10

Comments: I’m a sucker for a good Lifetime movie. This one is especially awesome because it stars several One Tree Hill actors! Everyone knows OTH is my favorite TV show of all time so seeing some of the cast reunite is one of greatest things ever. This movie is as cute as it is corny. It’s as precious as it is predictable. I was really hoping Barry Corbin would appear as Santa but he didn’t. But the movie is cute and I really enjoyed it.

Title: Dumplin’ (2018)

Format: Netflix

Personal rating: 7/10

Comments: It’s cute! It has a lot of really good messages and it’s very relatable. Danielle Macdonald, who plays the main character Willow Dean “Dumplin'” Dickson, is such a fabulous actor. The movie was casted very well (I mean obviously, Jen Aniston is in it).

Title: Breaking In (2018)

Format: Redbox

Personal rating: 6/10

Comments: Gabrielle Union is a total badass but the movie? Eh not so good. The idea is good but it could be better. It’s a little more “extra” than it needs to be with the violence. But the movie definitely inspired me to learn some self defense so I’m gonna throw that on my 2019 to-do list.

Title: White Boy Rick (2018)

Format: Redbox

Personal rating: 7/10

Comments: The acting is good and the movie isn’t bad! I just didn’t think it was that interesting and I was a little bored while watching. Crazy that it’s a true story though.

Title: Adrift (2018)

Format: Redbox

Personal rating: 7/10

Comments: Shailene Woodley is awesome. The plot twist really got me even though it shouldn’t have because I’ve seen so many movies like this one. It’s good yet super sad. Even sadder that it’s based on a true story.

Title: Destination Wedding (2018)

Format: Redbox

Personal rating: 6/10

Comments: If you can get past the corniness, it’s actually kind of cute. I don’t really like Winona Ryder or Keanu Reeves because I find them both annoying – which they both are in this movie. They are basically the only two people in the entire movie which is weird. I would’ve been fine if I never watched it.

Title: Bird Box (2018)

Format: Netflix

Personal rating: 6/10

Comments: “Blind people are gonna survive the apocalypse. That’s what I got out of it.” – Sarah. WHAT THE HECK DID WE JUST WATCH. WHAT WAS THE POINT. I DON’T UNDERSTAND THE HYPE. This movie only has hype being of my girl Sandy. Don’t get me wrong, she is fabulous in it but the movie and the concept of the movie? Awful! Maybe I’m missing something but it’s terrible.
