Spring 2019 Book Reviews

Title: Where the Crawdads Sing

Author: Delia Owens

Format: Physical book

Rating: 7.5/10

Comments: It’s very slow. I also could just be very lazy. It took me two and half months to finish. But I just read the last 170 pages totally hooked. I was determined to finish the book today and I did. And I am not disappointed. It’s good and the ending is a huge shock. The setting, a swamp, is unlike any other setting I’ve ever read about so it was nice to have some change. I picture Cara Delevingne as Kya and I think if it’s ever a movie, she should absolutely get the role. It’s slow but worth the wait.

(P.s. my mom said it’s not a slow read at all)

Title: She Lies in Wait

Author: Gytha Lodge

Format: Physical book

Rating: 7/10

Comments: I really enjoyed it! I love a good murder mystery. Even though the ending was unpredictable, I found myself just wanting a little more of a shock. Don’t get me wrong though, it’s really good and all of the characters are unique in their own way. The plot includes six friends but Lodge does a great job at keeping their story lines simple enough to not get confused but interesting enough that they’re all very different.

Only two books this spring?! I am super disappointed in myself for the low book count but very proud of myself for getting out and doing things. I kept myself so busy that I didn’t have time to read much. IAMO no longer.  I told myself that I would go out more, socialize more, do more things, and that’s exactly what I’ve been doing for the last five months and I could not be happier with life right now. However, like usual, my goal this summer is to read 10 books and I am going to try my very best to real my annual goal!
